＊牧　あやの　Year ６の卒業式に行きました。日本と全く違ったので、本当に初めから終わりまで驚きの連続でした。

１、卒業式の開始が夜の7時。２、子供たちがドレスアップしていた。３、最後にディスコパーティーがあった。学校によって内容は違うようですが、子供たちが心から楽しんで、明るく学校を去っていく印象を受けました。

想像していた以上に驚いたのは、なんといってもクリスマスです。子供たちがもらうプレゼントの数にもびっくりしましたが、両親やいとこ、おじいさんやおばあさん、全員がプレセントをもらえるのはいいなと思いました。クリスマス・ランチは日本のお正月のように特別なものだと感じました。牧さんの努力も人柄も学校コミュニティの方々から大好評でした。以下は学校からいただいた修了証の一部。今後の就職活動でも力になってくれることでしょう。

Everyone at MT Martha Primary School feel very fortunate to have been involved with Ayano. She has been a happy and energetic personality around the school and a tremendous asset to the Japanese teacher and the language program. ＊小松幸子　日本語の授業がすべて終了しました。途中なんどもくじけたこともあったし、恥をかいたことも悲しかったこともたくさんありました。しかし、周囲の人たちのささえで、ここまでやってれたと思っています。

週末はどこかしらでクリスマスパーティーです。今のホストファミリーとキャンベラに旅行に行ってきました。滞在中に首都が見れて良かった。

＊野岸　由梨　　学校での活動で特に印象に残ったことは何ですか？
12月は2日に授業が終了したため、授業は行いませんでした。

効果があったのは？Gameを取り入れた授業。学生が喜んでやってくれていると思います。

1ヶ月経ったこともあり、からかわれることがさらに多くなりました。自分に当てはまることでからかわれるのは、仕方ないと思いますし、嫌でないのですが、訳もなく私がやったに違いない！見たいな憶測で非難されることがあるので困っています。それが、苦痛なのとストレスが溜まる原因の一つです。

また過保護な家族なので、何をするにも一緒。例えば、買い物に出かけて、チョット見てくるね。と言おうものなら、誰かが必ずついてきます。なので、一人で何かをすると言うことが全く出来ません。これも、少しストレス。自己主張訓練で練習したテクニックがつかえるといいですね。

自分なりに、reading, speaking,　listening,　writing　の４技能を一日の中で取り入れるよう　にしています。

お蔭様で、ようやくストレスが発散できました。　大変ではありますが、週に1日、一人でどこかに出かけてこようと思っています。また学校の先生方も、うちにおいで。と言ってくれているので、時々、びに行くつもりです。

＊Saori Yoshida 　　This month is the end of year. Kids have a party today at the school. It is the differnt style of Japan, so it is interesting for me. In addition, this month this school have an event of Pets day.

Kids bring their pets　to the school. Kids decided the categories and apply to each categories　which, you know, is like best deressing or fast runner or cutiest name, something like that. To my surprise some kids have a horse or lamb, goat　and hen as a pet. It was a very unique event for me.

I have taught numbers, colours, the part of face, songs and the story of zodiac of the year. The last day of my lesson, I played chair cheating　game, I mean, isu tori game and checked kids rememberance. They answered more smooth than I had expected. In addition, kids greet me in　Japanese. It makes me happy.

I think Jingle bells in Japanese. However kids tried to sing enjoyable. That's OK.

I stay with farmer's house now. They showed me their farming place and rode me the tractors. It was the very unique experience for me. In　addition, I met Japanese married couple. They have live Melborune for five years, because they work at Meiji. I had a very good time to speak　JAPANESE!!

I still try to read newspaper, but it is still difficult for me. I borrowed "The Lord of the ring" from Loretta. I will read during holiday.　I hope I can understand the story.

I will fly to carins 22nd of Dec. I will send with my sisters there for 3nights after that we will fly to Sydney. My sisters will be back Japan　the next day, which mean the morning of 25th of Dec. Meanwhile I will stay there by myself for 3 more nights. I will go around in Sydney. I　will be back the principals, Loretta's house in Shepparton on the night of 28th of Dec. After that I will stay with Loretta for a while. 18th of　January, Yuko will come to Katamatite for 3nights. Therefore, I will show her around here with hiring the car. It should be FUN!!

I have spent here without relaxing, but I learned much of things. I hope this experience will be useful in my life.

This month, this schoo went to the Lion King!! It was fantastic.　I taught 753, the celebration. I gave the chance to try on yukata in my　lesson. Kids want to try to wear and enjoy. However, Kids who is here is　taller than Japanese kids, so the yukata is too small for them. It made　me surprised.

I taught the colour using origami and playground. Kids were enjoyed to learn the game. I also make coloring worksheet as a review. Kids also　enjoyed coloring.

I think Japanese song. I heard kids learned Jingle bells in Japanese last year. However they don't remember well. It seems for kids to sing hard.　Anyway I try again.

My English ability is still low. However I keep reading newspaper and　books or watching TV. In addition I read the ASAHI weekly on the net. I　hope my English ability is getting better.

＊東江　佳代　5･6年生のクラスでお好み焼きを作りました。準備に時間をかけた分、スムーズに作れ、生徒たちも喜んでいました。事前に試作をして先生たちに食べてもらったんですが、先生たちの方が生徒よりも気に入っていたようで、レシピを教えて欲しいと何人もの先生に言われ、とても嬉しく思いました。

ほとんどの学年でクリスマスカードを作りました。メリークリスマスと日本語で書いてもらって、サンタなどの絵を塗ったあと、折り紙でサンタやキャンディースティックを作り、完成させました。子供たちもとても喜んでいました。

ただ、折り紙は本当に忍耐がいるなといつも思います。

子供の友達に誕生日パーティに一緒に行き、その家がアルカパ農場を経営していてビックリしました。てっきり南米にしかいないものだと思っていたので。最初は、日本との違いにびっくりしていましたが、この頃は特に子供の行動などが日本の子供と似ているなと思っています。

英語力向上のために:日記を毎日つけています。週明けの月曜日などは特に先生たちと会話をするようにしています。新聞も読むようにしています。

学校のニュースレターに自分のことを書かせてもらったら、次の日からParentsと挨拶する機会がぐっと増えたことです。これからも書かせてもらうつもりです。
他には2年生のお泊り会に参加しました。みんなとても楽しそうで、夜はなかなか寝ず、日本の子供もオージーの子供も変わらないなと思わせる夜でした。

日本のSchool lifeをプロジェクターを使って紹介した授業。すぐに騒がしくなりがちでしたが、興味を持って見てくれました。質問形式にして当てた子にはプライズと思ったんですが、そこまでコントロールできませんでした。
また、「たってすわってゲーム」を色でやってみました。発話もそこそこしますし、色を言う役を生徒にやらせたり、テンポを上げてみたりと、盛り上がって良いゲームでした。
来週、５・６年生のクラスで「お好み焼き」にチャレンジしてみます。頑張ります。

先月と異なり、レベルが合わなかったり、盛り上がらなかった授業はありませんでした。ただ、いつも思うのはもっと説明を細かくしないといけないなと思います。

Sky　HighやArthurs　Seatといった観光名所に連れてってもらい、そこからの眺めがとっても素晴らしかったこと。

毎日日記をつけていること。先生たちとの会話の機会を持つようにしていること。
私は文法や単語の参考書を何も持って来なかったのですが、最近、少しは勉強すべきなのかなと思っています。耳が慣れてきて会話をもっと伸ばしたいと思うようになりました。なので、日本から送ってもらおうか今悩み中です。日記や会話以外にももう少し努力すべきなのかなと。とりとめのないことですいません・・。こちらの書店でも英文法の本、発音教材などが手にはいります。また、図書館でも英語教材を貸し出しています。

風邪を引いて、保険の受け取り方がわからなかったこと。でも、電話して解決しました。結局日本で申請することにしました。

＊近藤　智靖　里美　　私たちの出会いは、言うまでもなくJAPEPでした。研修の初日が出会いでした。
お互いに見た瞬間から、恋愛対象からははずれていました。
メルボルン滞在中は、私は田舎の小学校に、彼は比較的都会の高校に行くことになり、なかなか会うこともありませんでした。

半年ほどは、個人的に遊ぶことも、電話をすることも、メールさえもしませんでした。

ただ、JAPEPの派遣期間終了後、私が、彼のホストのいとこの子とルームシェアをすることになり、そのあたりから、帰国まではほぼ毎日会っていました。結局は帰国前の2週間で仲良くなったような気がします。

帰国後、JAPEPの仲間何人かで、2度ほど会い、だんだんとお互いに電話するようになり、メールをするようになり・・・。ただ、奈良と福岡という距離があったので、なかなか会うことはできませんでした。初めて、友達抜きで2人で会ったときに、つきあおうかということになり、今に至っています。

JAPEPの友達からは、つきあっていると言うと、驚かれたり、そうなると思ってたと笑われたりでした。JAPEP同期のみんなが結婚したって知れば、とても驚くと思います。みんな、元気にしてますか？

メルボルンでの出会いや、経験は私たちにとってかけがえのないものとなりました。今でも、オーストラリアはいつか戻りたい故郷のような存在です。大きな出会いをありがとうございました。ご結婚おめでとうございます。過去の参加者の方が、帰国後も仲良くされているというお話はよく伺い、とても嬉しく思っていますが、参加者同士のご結婚となると格別。近藤さんは、特に目立って英語力向上を達成された方で、帰国の際にはニア・ネイティブという状態でしたね。まもなくメルボルンの教会で挙式とのこと、お会いできるのを楽しみにしています。この教会は、同じくJAPEP参加から生まれた大場さんカップルも利用されました。

＊Chihiro Takiazawa　I went camping in BARARAT/ GreatOceanRoad with Y6 students.Although It have been rain for all days, we had a great time.First visit for me, so I was so excited.
I was surprised& happy that studens , and " most"of student very took care of me! ( I felt like be younger sister of them!)during camp.I ' ve got much their kindness,and I realize my school students are very great again.( ofcorse, I knew they are nice already and i like them& this school)I 'm proud of all of them!( Actually I'm not teacher! ` Sorry about talking big!)

we made origami airplane, and we pretened to get in japan by " chihiro airline"( I made tickets ( bording pass) for every one .Students might practice writing& revise the date, time & their name in japanese.)

My this life drawing to an end. so I have no time enough to go. But , so that's why I need to keep doing& I'll try my best.

＊　N. TAKAHASHI　We had the Japanese assembly at junior school. The best thing was so many students were involved in holding the event. A group of grade 6 girls showed a fabulous dancing with a Japanese music and some boys demonstrated Kendo and Karate, which was so cool. Japanese Club captains prepared for quizzes about Japanese things. And each grade from prep to grade 6 sang a different song in Japanese. The assembly was highly reputed among both students and teachers.

I took part in a formal of year11s' that was held at school, which was my first formal. Many of them looked very different from being in uniform. Sad to say, a photographer mistook me for a student and point her camera at me. Anyway, it was not so bad as I got a nice photo taken by a professional person. It was very interesting night full with many new things for me.

We had 2 big events at school in October; one is the Japanese Dinner Night and the other is Japanese Week.
At the Dinner Night, there were only year 3&4 students and their parents, and most of them nicely dressed up in Asian sort of clothes. They enjoyed having a look at so many very Japanese things and beautiful students' works displayed on the wall of the hall, listening to a Japanese music and of course eating a nice Japanese-style box dinner. I showed the simplified Tea Ceremony on a tray after dinner at the night.

During the Japanese Week, all of us in junior school worked on many Japanese cultural things such as calligraphy, sushi making, Kabuki role-playing and make-upping, sumo tournament, Bon-odori, traditional games like fukuwarai, weather -predicting by let one's shoe fly and koori-oni etc. Origami making and so on. Although all the Japanese teachers at junior school were so busy for it, yet we were happy to see students having fun in class.

My new host family very kindly showed me all around Yarra Valley and Heals Ville Sanctuary. By a happy chance I could find the most energetic koala bear I've ever seen! He was running around within the enclosure, leaping up to a tree and running up to the top of it. That was just amazing. If there is someone who has been disappointed before to see them just hiding and sleeping up on a tree, I would recommend them to try there!

＊　前山　祐子　たくさんありますが、Sleepoverが特に印象的でした。日本だとお泊りに行くときは、荷物を少なくしようと努力するのに、オーストラリアでは、持っていきたいだけ、持っていくという様子にビックリしました。生徒は、夜一緒に寝るぬいぐるみまでもっており、朝そのぬいぐるみの紹介があったのには本当に驚きでした。とってもいい経験になりました。

特に効果があったのは？調理実習です。すごく楽しんで、参加してくれました。

ホストファミリーとの生活:メルボルンカップの休みを利用して、ウィルソン・プロミトリー・ナショナル・パークに行ったことです。野生のコアラ、キドナ、エミュー、カンガルーなどが見られました。カンガルーに関しては、３メートル程まで近づいて見ることができ、体の大きさに驚きました。オーストラリアには珍しい動物がたくさんあるんですね。いろいろなことに驚き、感動する新鮮な感性を持ち続けましょう。

プレップのLiteracyのクラスに入れてもらい、一緒に勉強を始めました。自分の単語力がプレップ以下であることを知り、ショックでしたが、彼らに負けないよう頑張っています。また、２週に一回のペースで、ニュースレターを作成し、日本語の担当の先生に英文の添削をお願いしています。

何か困ったことは？日本食がとっても恋しくなることです。。やはり食生活はなかなか変えることができないと感じました。

＊１９９６年、シドニー郊外で３校の小学校・幼稚園でアシスタント教師を経験しました。
そのときのホストとは、メールや手紙で連絡を取り合っています。

今、私は幼稚園で勤務しながら、夜間の臨床心理系の大学院に通うという生活を送っています。
日本での今起こっている子どもの問題は、実はオーストラリアでも同じようなことが
起こっているということを、そのやりとりから見えてきます。現場同士の貴重なパイプが
あのオーストラリアでの体験からできました。

新保さん始め、スタッフの皆様にはお変わりございませんか。
さて、大学院の友人が、小学校教員休職中の機会を生かして他の国の現場をみたいと相談を受け、

＊ M. Yukita I also went to Tokyo to see Singleton High School Band members. I hang out with them for 4 days. We went to Tokyo Disneyland, some temples and shrines. I had dinner with some of them. It was pretty goo to see them.

＊新年、あけましておめでとうございます。楽しい休暇を過ごされましたか？多数の方から年賀状やお便りをいただきながらお返事が出来ず、失礼しました。年末年始は博士課程の卒業式、いけばななどであわただしい日々でした。現在、日本社会はいろいろな点で混乱期にあるように見受けられます。転換期だと言う方も多いようです。こんな時は自分の将来もなかなか考えにくいのではないでしょうか？表面的な事柄に左右されるのでなく、内面を充実させ、着実に歩んでいきたいものです（新）。

＊Hello everyone and Happy New Year to you all. I had a very Australian Christmas - all my family joined together to have turkey and Christmas pudding for lunch and in the afternoon I was able to swim at the beach. We are having our first really consistently summer-like summer for several years.

The last few years it has been cold and wet for much of the summer months but this year almost everyday is sunny and in the high 20s. We have also had some very hot days in the 40s. We call this sort of day a "scorcher". For example we might say "I enjoy hot weather but yesterday was a scorcher!" meaning that yesterday was too hot. Because of the hot weather, and because we have not had much rain so the grass is very dry, we are having many bushfires. It is very sad when houses are burnt but also many farm animals and bush animals suffer greatly at these times.

Japan is experiencing extremely cold weather with lots of snow and Australia is experiencing extremely hot weather with lots of fires. It makes me think that we need, each one of us, to try to look after our environment as much as possible. Best wishes to you all for a peaceful and productive 2006. GJ
